Dear Friends,

Nearly 2,000 people took to the streets of Detroit on Friday to tell Gov. Rick Snyder, Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr and the 1% of Detroit that Water is a Human Right and they are creating a serious health hazard among the most vulnerable population in the city. The march was covered by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, every major TV outlet, local media and a special video was available on The Huffington Post. Our calls last Tuesday shut down the Governor's phone lines and they are beginning to get the message. Detroit Water and Sewerage has called a temporary halt to the water shut-offs.

That means that we can't stop now until water is restored, no more water is shut off and a plan is implemented that allows citizens of Detroit to pay a fair amount for their water. The water belongs to the people and is a city asset; water should not be sold to the highest bidder.

Join the second national call-in day on Tuesday demanding that Michigan Governor Rick Snyder end the water shutoffs, restore water to all residents, implement the People's Water Affordabiity Plan and not privatize the water that rightfully belongs to the people of Detroit.

Thanks,
Andrea Miller
