York Center Park District

Preschool
York Center Park District's preschool program has over 30 years of experience educating young children. These classes are designed to develop classroom and social skills that will prepare children for kindergarten. Children participate in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities including stories, music, arts and crafts, games, free play and computers. These activities coincide with special daily themes and enhance gross and fine motor development.
Ages:
4-5 years
Dates:
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
Semester I (Sept. 3-Dec. 19)
Semester II (Jan. 5-May 22)
Time:
9:00-11:30am
Fee:
Registration Fee = $25
Two days per week (Sept. 3-Dec. 19) = $382.50/resident; $420.00/non-resident
Three days per week (Sept. 3-Dec. 19) = $535.50/resident; $588.00/non-resident
Location:
Preschool Room


ASRChildren who attend participating schools in District 45 (York Center, Stevenson, Westmore, and Ardmore) and District 44 (Manor Hill) will be picked up by bus and transported back to the York Center Park District each day after school. The After School Recreation program is a fun place to make new friends, play games, create fun crafts, work as a team, and receive help with homework.

This program follows the District 45 school schedule.

KEP The Kindergarten Enrichment Program is a child-centered differentiated curriculum that offers stimulating activities and learning experiences for your child's success in kindergarten and beyond. In this program, students will:
* Engage in activities that promote reading comprehension and fluency.
* Engage in multi-sensory activities that promote reading skills, including phonological awareness, phonics, and vocabulary development.
* Discuss reactions to literature and develop an understanding of story elements such as character, setting, plot, and problem and solution.
* Participate in shared reading and writing activities.
* Participate in writing activities such as journaling and response to literature.
* Engage in explorations that promote number sense, mathematical thinking, and mathematical terms.
* Develop an understanding of time, money, addition, subtraction, and measurement.
Children who attend morning Kindergarten at participating schools in District 45 will be picked up by bus and transported to the York Center
Park District each day after school. Additional information can be found in the KEP packet, which can be picked up at the front desk.

This program follows the District 45 school schedule.
