Daniel --

The first legislative battle of 2014 starts right now.

Three days after Christmas, 1.3 million unemployed Americans suddenly and completely lost their benefits. Next week, the Senate will vote on a proposal to throw these people a lifeline -- a 3 month extension that would keep people's children fed and rent paid while Congress negotiates a long term solution.

A number of Senators are still on the fence on this legislation, or they're keeping quiet to protect themselves from blow back -- cutting off benefits is extremely unpopular, even in Republican districts.

Before the big vote, we need to make it crystal clear to them that cutting off benefits is not acceptable. Tell the Senate to extend unemployment benefits now.

This legislation should be a no-brainer. Our economy is still weak, good jobs are still rare, and the longer you are unemployed the harder it is to find a position. Unemployment benefits have been the one thing keeping many people afloat -- and keeping them in the job hunt.

Democrats like Harry Reid are anxious to get unemployed Americans the help they need. But others won't tell us which way they will vote. Many of these Senators represent states with higher unemployment than the national average. Some of them represent swing states. They're worried about re-election. They can be moved.

Nothing gets the attention of a politician in an election year more than motivated voters and activists ready to take action. What we do matters more now than ever.

Tell your Senators this can't wait another week -- vote to extend benefits and help the unemployed right now.

Thank you for taking action,

Karli
