Dear Daniel,

  Help protect future generations today

Today, we have the chance to do something big together. Something that will make history.

You may not know me, but I'm writing to you today on behalf of The Climate Reality Project as a Climate Reality Leader. I became a leader because climate change is one of the biggest threats facing our world today -- and I wanted to inspire others in my community to act. No person is immune to the impacts of climate disruption, especially where we live, and I'm helping to broadcast the facts, stand up to nonsense and denial, and getting others to take action.

Here in Illinois, we know man-made climate change is costing us. While we're still buttoning up our coats now, remember the sweltering heat waves we've been experiencing summer after summer? Remember how last summer it got so hot the state opened cooling centers and closed schools? Or the summer before how roads were buckling in the sun and fish were dying in lakes? This kind of heat is going to just keep coming and it's putting our health at real risk, not to mention ruining our summers.

We can't wait any longer to take meaningful climate action, and that's exactly why I'm asking you to send a comment to the Environmental Protection Agency in support of tough carbon pollution limits for new power plants.

The facts are simple: unregulated, dirty power plants produce 40 percent of our nation's climate-disrupting carbon pollution. The good news is that the EPA understands this -- and they're attempting to make a change by limiting the carbon pollution new power plants can dump into our atmosphere.

But I'm willing to bet Big Polluters aren't taking this lightly -- and that's why your comments today in support of the EPA's standards are SO important.

In order for us to move towards the clean-energy future we want and need, we have to limit carbon pollution. The EPA's carbon standards are an important start.

Sincerely,

Audrey Fischer
Climate Reality Leader and proud resident of the great state of Illinois
