Call Sen. Ted Cruz's Bluff; Don't Let Him Use Unilateral Obstruction to Protect Secret Election Spending!

Senate Leaders:

Sen. Ted Cruz's extremist unilateral crusade to block the confirmation of Tom Wheeler to the FCC undermines both the FCC and the U.S. Senate and cannot be allowed to succeed. Hold a cloture vote and move this nomination to the floor without delay.

Daniel,

Sen. Ted Cruz is singlehandedly obstructing the confirmation of Tom Wheeler, a nominee to the Federal Communications Commission that leaders of both parties had already agreed to vote on, in order to protect secret spending in elections!

Cruz's fellow Republicans need to pressure him to stop this reckless hold and honor the deal that they themselves already struck … and the rest of the Senate needs to call Cruz's bluff.

Click here to tell Majority Leader Reid to call Cruz's bluff and bring Wheeler to the floor for a cloture vote.

From the New York Times this morning:

Mr. Cruz knows that Congress will not repeal federal laws granting the F.C.C. power to require disclosure, so he is trying to bully Mr. Wheeler into agreeing not to exercise the agency's authority. The fact is, neither he nor supporters of Republican candidates and conservative causes want disclosure of spending on commercials by groups like Americans for Prosperity, which is backed by the billionaire Koch brothers.

There is no doubt that the FCC has the authority to require greater disclosure about political ads funded by independent groups. Cruz's extremism is once again reaching dangerous heights and exceeding that of the rest of his party -- a party that itself has set terrible new standards for extremism and obstruction.

Please sign our petition now to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid encouraging him to keep up his tough stand against Tea Party extremism and call Cruz's bluff on the FCC.

Thank you for speaking out!
