Subject: G-8 Could End Fossil Fuel Subsidies This Weekend

| When the wealthy G-8 nations meet with President Obama at Camp David this weekend, they could agree to a plan that would end $1 trillion in public subsidies to fossil fuel companies around the world. Now is the moment to build public pressure through our representatives in Washington. Thanks to 12,000 of you who've already taken action! Please forward this far and wide, and click if you haven't. Dear Daniel, Our government isn't failing to address global warming. It's aggressively making it worse by giving at least $11 billion per year to some of the most profitable corporations on earth. Tell Congress to end fossil fuel subsidies now. Senator Bernie Sanders and Congressman Keith Ellison have just introduced legislation that would eliminate all oil, coal and gas production subsidies. If this bill passes, there will be no more tax breaks, financial assistance, royalty relief, or any of the numerous other giveaways currently going to the fossil fuel industry. Tell Congress we know what they're doing. Demand that they stop doing it. We like to think of government spending as a good thing. We like to think that taxing the rich would fix our public policies. In reality, we need comprehensive changes that tax the rich while ceasing to dump the public treasury into polluters, or into the wars that are waged for their benefit. Tell Congress to put that $11 billion to better use. Please forward this email widely to like-minded friends. No fossil fuels were used in the production of this email, and none are used in forwarding it. Please forward. Onward, Aimee, David, Sarah and the RootsAction team P.S.
