Al Franken - U.S. Senator, Minnesota

Dear Daniel,

I've written to you about the elephant in the room -- Citizens United. Now, a new case threatens to pump that elephant full of steroids and enlarge it to mammoth proportions.

The Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit to overturn the ban on unlimited contributions to political parties that has stood for decades. The ban first passed, with bipartisan support, in 2002. If it were to disappear, we'd be one step closer to a campaign finance system with no rules at all.

So far, we've gotten an amazing outpouring of support for overturning the effects of Citizens United -- more than 505,000 people have signed the petition so far.

With this new threat looming, I need you to add your voice, too. Sign the petition for stronger campaign finance reform. Click here to sign the petition.

If the RNC wins its case the elephant not only gets bigger, it gets stronger. People like the Koch brothers will literally be able to spend whatever they want to buy entire election cycles. And once that giant elephant gets loose, it's going to trample every progressive in sight.

Join me in calling for a constitutional amendment to get unrestricted money out of politics and put power back in the hands of the people -- add your name to the petition.

Congress can't stop RNC v. FEC from being decided -- it's in the hands of the court now. But Congress can pass a constitutional amendment that would make RNC v. FEC a moot point. And you can help us keep the pressure on.

Thanks for your help.

Al
