Friends,
Last month the Illinois Department of Natural Resources released their first draft of new fracking regulations. The current draft rules on fracking give big oil essentially free reign to pollute our air, water and climate.
We're joining our allies, Chicagoland Against Fracking and others in Illinois to push back on these weak regulations. If you agree that Illinoisans deserve protection from big oil's reckless fracking plans, can you submit a comment to the Dept. of Natural Resources telling them to scrap their broken regulations?

The only safe energy solution for Illinois is 100% renewable power, as soon as possible, and every fracking well drilled is a step in the wrong direction.
The state is supposed to protect us from toxic releases into our water, it is supposed to protect our air, and it's supposed to make sure the industry is held accountable when they don't follow the rules. The current regulations don't do any of these things.
The fines for administration and operating violations run as low as $50 for multibillion dollar corporations. Parking ticket sized fines won't stop big oil from breaking the rules.
If we want to start to slow climate change and end the practice of fracking, we need to speak out and do it often.

Big oil wants to drill for more oil and gas at precisely the moment we need to be transitioning to 100% renewable energy. That means it's our moment to step and fight back. This is one way to begin that resistance, but there will be more to come soon.
Linda
