It's still not too late to sign up for the St. Patrick's Day dinner. Go to http://www.yorkdemocrats.org/dinner.php . The money raised at the dinner lets us operate for the year without constantly asking you for donations, and hopefully have some left over to give to candidates. If you can't make the event, please consider making a donation.

At the YTDO meeting last night, the membership voted to endorse HJRCA0002, a proposed amendment to the Illinois Constitution which would allow a graduated-rate income tax. If passed, a graduated tax could solve a significant portion of the state's budget difficulties while actually lowering tax rates for the great majority of the population. At the same meeting, our members voted to endorse the following candidates running in nonpartisan municipal races:

Robert J. "Bob" Wagner for Villa Park village trustee

Ed Agustin and Frank Flores Jr. for College of DuPage trustees

Deborah Bullwinkel for Villa Park village president

Congratulations to these candidates. Whether you agree or disagree with these choices, it's vital that you get out and walk your precinct for your choice of candidates in your village plus our township candidates. With our past successes we have a real chance to earn actual two-party government in York Township, but only if everybody pitches in. If you have extra time, join us for our weekend group canvasses. The next one will meet at Margaret Sewell's, 425 S Washington, Elmhurst, at 9:30 AM on Sunday March 10.

Also: Join us for the Elmhurst St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday the 9th. We meet up at 11 AM outside 952 S. Spring Rd., just south of Van Buren. If you can't find us, parade officials will be there to direct you.

Also also: Early voting starts March 25 and runs through April 6. The sites include:
Elmhurst City Hall, 209 N. York St., Elmhurst
Mon - Fri 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

Yorktown Center, 203 Yorktown Mall Dr., Lombard.
Mon - Fri 10:00 am - 7:00 pm; Sat 10:00 am - 3:00 pm; Sun 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Also^3: If you can spare a couple of hours every couple of weeks, you can help us make phone calls to recruit new members. Please reply to this email if you'd like to know more.
